Long live the Cr\u00e8me!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes I lay awake at night trying to figure out exactly why these pretzel crisps are so good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just kidding. I don\u2019t do that. Um, not very often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, seriously, why? I\u2019ve eaten many varieties of white chocolate, peppermint, and pretzel snacks over the years, and somehow these<\/em> Snack Factory White Cr\u00e8me & Peppermint Pretzel Crisps<\/a> are substantially yummier than the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No, this isn\u2019t a sponsored review. That\u2019s my own unwashed opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think it must be the \u201ccr\u00e8me\u201d itself. I\u2019m calling it \u201cwhite chocolate,\u201d because I\u2019m an ignorant guttersnipe. But the bag says \u201ccr\u00e8me,\u201d so cr\u00e8me it must be. Anyway. The creamy-white coating is smooth and flavorful. It has a milky taste, but no actual cocoa butter. There\u2019s a subtle sweetness that doesn\u2019t overwhelm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or maybe it\u2019s the real vanilla that makes these snacks so good. There aren\u2019t any artificial flavors listed in the ingredients, so the warm, rich flavor must be from the pure vanilla. Whatever the case, it\u2019s a heavenly combination. This is my second year in a row purchasing a huge bag of these pretzel snacks, and I regret nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike planet earth, these pretzels are flat. If you\u2019ve had Snack Factory<\/a> pretzel crisps before, then you already know this. The flat shape spreads out the crunch and intensifies it. It\u2019s kind of like a cracker, but make it pretzel-flavored. The pretzel-crackers have a pleasant bubbled surface and super crisp texture. Although they are sturdy, there\u2019s a sort of delicate elegance to the thinness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Fingers<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s just enough saltiness here to complement the sweet and creamy (ahem, \u201ccr\u00e8mey\u201d) flavors. Salt makes everything better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Happily, these aren\u2019t messy to eat \u2014 the cr\u00e8me coating is rigid enough to seal the pretzel in a tidy shell, but soft enough to melt in my mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arguably, the peppermint candy shards are the stars of this show. I appreciate how restrained the peppermint flavor is \u2014 you won\u2019t<\/em> feel like you are eating toothpaste. There\u2019s just enough delicate mintiness to balance the creamy-cr\u00e8me notes. The candy bits are crisp and crunchy, but still easy to chew. They somehow resist getting sticky in the Florida humidity, which is magical in my book. I love that there are no artificial colors to dye these red, but rather natural beet and radish juices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I usually only find these Snack Factory pretzel crisps between October and December. I love their festive appearance. They make a nice addition to a party spread or goody bags. Even when purchased in large bags, the pretzels are mostly intact, with a small minority of broken (or conjoined) ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many horrors have been avoided in these ingredients, such as artificial colors and flavors. I also don\u2019t see any preservatives. The genuine vanilla is a huge plus. I love that the peppermint candy is dyed with radish and beet juice. I\u2019m a big fan of cocoa butter, so the absence here is a slight bummer. But I guess that\u2019s why we have to call these \u201ccr\u00e8me\u201d instead of \u201cwhite chocolate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
