I had experienced truffle-infused food sporadically before, but it just hadn\u2019t quite \u201cclicked\u201d in my silly noggin. They say your palate changes as you age, and I\u2019ve definitely found that to be true. So, now I\u2019m making up for lost time. Here is some cheese from Aldi that is <em>full<\/em> of delicious truffle bits (and some other stuff \u2014 <em>keep reading<\/em>). I enjoyed it, and now I will tell you <em>all<\/em> about it. There\u2019s still time to run away, if you want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve perused the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aldi.us\/products\/dairy-eggs\/cheese\/\">cheese aisle at Aldi<\/a>, you\u2019ve probably been overwhelmed by the variety of cheeses available \u2014 especially flavored and imported cheeses. They are usually sold in small amounts \u2014 which I <em>actually<\/em> appreciate, because I\u2019m single, have a tiny hobbit stomach, and don\u2019t want to commit to a lot of mystery cheese all at once. There are already too many mysteries in my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>(Looking for a peppery-but-mild cheese? I would describe this as an assertive \u201csharp\u201d cheddar with a firm, slightly crumbly texture. Because it is moderately crumbly, it was tricky cutting <em>thin<\/em> slices, so it may not be the <em>best<\/em> option for crackers. I melted mine over an egg sandwich, which was lovely. However, from reading the ingredients, these dark specs may not be ENTIRELY truffles \u2014 black olives are also listed. In fact, this truffle-magic is comprised of a lot of <em>stuff<\/em>: closed cap mushrooms, olive oil, black olives, black summer truffles, dehydrated black truffles, truffle infused olive oil, black truffle <em>flavoring<\/em>, and more. Interesting. I ate mine with thick slices of avocado, fried egg, and a generously buttered artisanal roll. Why, Aldi? Whyyyyy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each 1 ounce serving has 120 calories, 7 grams of protein, and 10 grams of fat. No fiber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 5.3 ounce block of truffle cheddar cost $4.49, which makes it a not-so-frugal $0.84 per ounce. Still, for an imported specialty cheese WITH TRUFFLES, I consider this a great buy. OK. So, not actually made from real truffles? Interesting.
