Always allow alliteration.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Do you know why it took me so long to try these? Because I couldn’t get past the fact that there are only 3.88 ounces of treats inside this box. But, $2.09 later, here I am. With my Benton’s Belgian Butter Waffle Crisps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What corporate nincompoop abandoned this promising alliteration masterpiece after the first three words? Hmmph!
You totally<\/em> could have gone for the glory with: “Benton’s Belgian Butter Bisected Biscuits.” Or even “Benton’s Belgian Boldly Bifurcated Buttery Budget Bites.”
Just saying. Juuuuust saaayingggg.<\/em> You have grieved our nerdy little hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unusual texture and sly flavors.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The cookie texture is beautiful. It’s not fluffy like an actual waffle, but it is crisp. It’s got kind of a thick, but light, crumb texture. Sort of an “open” texture. The little cronchy crumbs have gaps between them that collapse with light pressure. It’s fun and different.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The butter flavor is palpable, plus a little sly caramel touch. On the official sweetness scale, these are perhaps a 5 out of 10. Just sweet enough to be a treat. This is how I like my cookies! Honestly, I would eat a box of these plain, no chocolate necessary. And that feels like blasphemy, because I do love chocolate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the award for meltiest chocolate goes to….<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of chocolate: I am not enthused by this chocolate. And I can’t believe I just said that. When have I ever turned down chocolate?! Don’t get me wrong — it is<\/em> tasty. I appreciate the deep, dark, slightly tangy cocoa flavor. It’s delicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, this is insanely<\/em> melty chocolate. Absurdly melty. If there was an award for “The Meltiest” chocolate, it would win an Oscar. Even after refrigerating my cookies, the chocolate was smearing off instantly when handling them. In my warm Florida home, these turned into molten blobs. No thank you!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

What did I do with my Butter Waffles? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Besides popping them in my mouth, I added my waffle crisps to this grazing board (is “charcuterie” an ugly word in 2025? discuss), which provided a sophisticated texture change and not-too-sweet addition. I did refrigerate them first, however, just to make them easier to handle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Other Aldi items on this board that I’ve previously reviewed include these Jalapeno Stuffed Olives<\/a> and Strawberry Jaffa Cakes<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Beware the evil humidity.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are just 12 cookies in this box. And the success of those cookies is dependent on them remaining as crisp as possible. In humid Florida, this is a major challenge. I would have been more thrilled if the cookies were packed in 2 or 3 separate packets. There is simply no way to keep anything crisp here, once it has been opened. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
