Publix Flourless Chocolate Truffle Torte (Greenwise) Review
Author’s note: Not a paid review! Not sponsored. I have no affiliation with Publix. These are my own weird little opinions.
No one likes a dessert miser!
Once upon a time, I hosted an artist critique group in my home. One of the artists brought a homemade flourless truffle torte (with a fabulous fresh raspberry sauce). It was absolutely amazing. The stuff of dreams!
I found this Publix version later. While not the same as the homemade rendition, it’s pretty dang good.
In fact, this is the best Publix dessert I’ve tried so far. Period-t.
A Publix Greenwise Dessert
The Publix Flourless Chocolate Truffle Torte is from the Greenwise organic/natural store brand. It’s gluten free and grain free.
For me, the big draw is the surprisingly natural ingredients — rivaling a homemade product, in fact. More about those ingredients later.
The Truffle Texture
If you love chocolate and creamy desserts, you will probably love this. The texture is somewhat similar to the inside of a chocolate truffle. It has that velvety-buttery-smoothness. It’s dense, but melts in my mouth.
There is no crust or bottom layer to this dessert, but it does have a slight thickening around the edges. Like a self-crust. Almost.
There’s little resemblance to typical “cake” in this dessert. It’s more custard-like. The body is thicker and firmer than a mousse, but not as solid as a cheesecake. Compared to other “truffle cakes” I’ve tried, this one is more concentrated and less “whipped.”
I sort of consider this truffle cake to have only one layer. Although, after I looked at my pictures, it certainly appears there is a slightly different layer on top. This isn’t discernable when eating it.
It’s essentially just one taste all the way through. Fortunately, that one taste is exceptional!

Garnish
There’s a stiffer lattice garnish made from melted semi-sweet chocolate which offers a snazzy geometric contrast to the lush softness of the cake. The crisp, hardened chocolate is the only real texture change in this dessert — otherwise, it is just the creamy-smooth truffle body.
Dessert Size
My truffle cake looks bigger in my pictures than it is. This is a small dessert. One pound. A smol boi. But very concentrated and rich. The torte has a low profile — it’s just over an inch high. Mine was about 6-7 inches in diameter.
Thus, these are tiny slices. They’re each about 3 inches long, which is the size of a Post-It note. This is such a rich dessert, the small slices feel appropriate.
Even so — for entertaining — I would opt to plate them with some sort of garnish that helps to fill the empty plate space. Otherwise, your guests will think you’re a dessert-miser.
No one likes a dessert miser!
Don’t believe me? Here’s an actual Post-It Note, for scale. Never doubt me!

Ingredients in Publix Flourless Chocolate Truffle Torte
Here are the ingredients from the label:
- Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips (Sugar, Unsweetened Chocolate, Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin, Vanilla)
- Egg Whites
- Butter (Cream, Natural Flavors)
- Egg Yolks
- Chocolate Coating (Sugar, Vegetable Oils [Palm Kernel, Palm], Cocoa [Processed with Alkali], Lactose [Milk])
- Cocoa
- Lactose
- Sunflower Lecithin
- Vanilla [Milk]
- Sugar
An impressive ingredient list. I’m delighted. (If you’ve read my other reviews, you know this is a rare occurrence.)
The real butter is always welcome. And, it’s especially great to see genuine vanilla as the flavoring. No artificial colors or preservatives. No weird stuff. Hurrah!
The label says this is Gluten Free and made with Belgian Chocolate. It’s also Kosher (Dairy).
Nutrition Facts in Greenwise Chocolate Truffle Cake
There are six servings per 1-pound package. Although that’s only 2.67 ounces, it will feel like more, because of the richness of the dessert.
Each serving has 350 calories. There’s a whopping 23 grams of fat (14 grams of saturated fat!), and a pleasant 5 grams of protein. You get a moderate 25 grams of sugar, of which 23 grams are “added sugar.”
Because of all the cocoa, there’s also a hefty 15% of your daily value of iron in each serving.
If you’re watching your cholesterol, there’s a fair amount here with 28% of your daily value.
The Salt Police will be glad to hear there is only 2% of your daily value of sodium per slice.
Price and Servings in Publix Greenwise Chocolate Torte
The 16-ounce package is regularly $9.99, but I got mine on sale for $8.99. Since there are six servings per torte, each slice is $1.67 at the regular price, or 63 cents per ounce.
This is SUBSTANTIALLY less expensive per serving than most Publix Bakery cakes. As in, less than half the cost! This is amazing, given this Flourless Chocolate Truffle Torte has far better ingredients and overall quality.

This truffle cake is typically located in the refrigerated case of the Publix Bakery, with the other grab-and-go dessert options.
Shelf-Life
The sell-by date on my package allowed me about a week to consume. I did not discern any changes in taste or texture during the 10+ days this sat in my refrigerator. You can safely buy this a few days before you need it and expect the same quality and taste.
Dramatic Conclusion
I’ve been buying this Publix Flourless Chocolate Truffle Torte for several years now, and I’ve recommended it to friends and family, who were equally delighted. It’s a solid product, and has quality ingredients. Compared to other Publix Bakery cakes, this one is cheaper per serving. And it does go on sale periodically!
The End.
